型态
在第二类条件句中，条件式现在时也会用到进行时。

作用
这种型态在第二类条件句是很常见的，它表达的是一个未完成或进行中的动作或情况，是非真实情况可能会有的结果。
举例
- I would be working in Italy if I spoke Italian.（但我不会说意大利语，所以我没有在意大利工作）
- She wouldn't be living with Jack if she lived with her parents.（但她和 Jack 同居，而不是跟父母同居）
- You wouldn't be smiling if you knew the truth.（但你之所以还在笑，是因为你不知道事情的真相）
条件式现在进行时
任何动词的条件式现在进行时都是由三个要素组成：
would + be + 现在分词
现在分词的构造是取动词原形，接着在字尾加上 ing。
