Englishtown and EF
Since 1965...
Englishtown, the world's most advanced online English school, is a part of EF, Education First. As part of EF, we are backed by decades of teaching experience and have 34,000 teachers and staff in 50 countries.
EF was founded in Sweden in 1965 by a young entrepreneur named Bertil Hult. The
concept was straightforward: bring local high school students to England to learn English. It
was a simple but revolutionary business idea that led EF to become the world’s
largest private educational organization – with more than 400 schools and offices worldwide.
Learning the smart way
Over the last decade, Englishtown has invested more than US$50 million dollars to develop
the EFEKTA™ system – an innovative English learning method engineered to deliver maximum
results in the least time.
The backbone of the Efekta system is our state-of-the-art language iLab, designed to accelerate language
acquisition. With over 1,500 hours of interactive multimedia tutorials developed by EF linguists
and a business English curriculum powered by Harvard Business School Publishing, the iLab is
one of a kind.
